Verification before publication

Reporters are responsible for the accuracy of their work, and editors verify factual claims before publication. Figures, dates, rules, and quotations are checked against primary sources.

What we check

Handling uncertainty

Where facts are contested or evolving, we say so. We attribute projections and estimates to their source and avoid stating assumptions as settled fact.

After publication

If a verified error slips through, we address it under our Corrections Policy. Readers can flag potential errors through our contact page.
